How to Search Jefferson Parish Inmate Records
The official tool is the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office inmate search. It is free, needs no login, and lists people held at the parish jail. You search by name, race, sex, arrest date, inmate CCN, or date of birth. Results show the charges, the bond, and the booking date. The page posts a "last updated" time so you know how current the data is.
The official JPSO inmate search app is shown below.
Follow these steps to use the roster.
- Open the JPSO inmate search page.
- Type the person's last name, or enter the CCN if you have it.
- Add race or sex if the name is common, to narrow the list.
- Run the search and open the matching entry.
- Read the charge lines, bond, and booking date in the result.
If the person is not on the roster, they may have been released or held elsewhere. The released inmates page covers how to verify a release.
Jefferson Parish Inmate Search Fields
The search form gives you several fields. Some are marked required in the page code, but the roster still loads results without every field filled. A last name is usually enough to start. The table lists each field and how it works.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes / Format |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name | Text | Yes | Free text; search by inmate name. |
| Race | Dropdown | Yes | All, Unknown, Asian/Pacific Islander, Black, American Indian/Alaskan Native, White. |
| Sex | Dropdown | Yes | All, Unknown, Female, Male. |
| Arrest Date | Date picker | No | Browser date input. |
| Inmate CCN | Text | Yes | The booking number; the page still loads without it. |
| Date of Birth | Date picker | No | Browser date input. |
| Search | Button | N/A | Runs the search. |
What the Inmate Search Shows
Each result is a profile of one person in custody. The fields are basic, since the public roster is not the full booking file. The table lists each field and what it tells you.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | Last name, first name, middle initial. |
| Inmate CCN | The numeric booking identifier. |
| Race / Sex | Basic descriptors for the person. |
| Date of Birth | Shown in month, day, year format. |
| Arrest Date | The booking date for each charge. |
| Charges | Charge code and description per line. |
| Bond | A dollar amount or "No Bond Set." |
Charge codes follow Louisiana statutes, so a line such as RS14:65 means simple robbery.
Charges, Bond, and CCN Numbers
Three fields drive most searches. The CCN is the booking number that ties to one person's stay. The charge lines list each offense booked, with a code and a short description. The bond is the amount needed for release, set per charge. A person can have several charges, each with its own bond, and the total is what must be posted.
Some charges show "No Bond Set," which often means a hold, a probation matter, or a charge waiting for a commissioner to set bail. The warrant records page explains attachment and fugitive charge codes that can appear here.
What the Search Does Not Show
The public roster leaves out a lot. Knowing the gaps saves time. Call the jail's housing line for anything the roster does not list.
- No mugshot or booking photo.
- No holding location, dorm, or cell.
- No arresting agency.
- No court date.
- No release date.
Note: For housing or dorm details that the roster does not show, call the jail at 504-368-5360 with the inmate's CCN ready.
Booking and Bail Process
After an arrest, the person is taken to the parish lockup and booked before being held. The 24th JDC Criminal Commissioners set bonds during court hours, and a commissioner is on call around the clock to set bail. They use a bond range chart that weighs the charge and the person's history.
There are four basic ways to get out. Cash bail is the full amount in a cashier's check or money order, delivered to the Correctional Center. A surety bond uses a bail bondsman. A property bond pledges real estate. Release on own recognizance is a promise to return, often for people with no record and a nonviolent charge.
Booking creates the official record that the roster draws from. Once it is done, the person shows on the inmate search with their CCN, charges, and bond. If you need written proof that someone is held, the Sheriff also issues a letter of incarceration through the records desk. The Jefferson Parish court records on JeffNet then track the case once charges are filed.

Jefferson Parish Jail Visitation
Visits happen through video at an off-site center, not at the jail itself. The Visitation Center is at 2211 Barataria Boulevard, Suite 110, in Marrero, with free parking. Each week brings one free video visit, and you can book paid remote visits on top of that. Video visits cost $0.12 per minute, and the provider is Ally Telecom Group with NCIC funding.
The official JPSO visitation rules page is shown below.

Inmate Mail Rules
Mail must be addressed with the inmate's name at the time of booking, the CCN, and the dorm number if known. Send it to the JPCC Inmate Housing Area, P.O. Box 388, Gretna, LA 70053. Every piece is opened and checked for contraband by jail staff.
Some items are allowed and some are not. Pictures are fine, but no instant photos and no lewd images. Paperback books and approved magazines must ship from a publisher or bookstore, with a four-book limit. No mail from other inmates, no stamps, no blank stationery, and no tobacco.
The official JPSO inmate mail page is shown below.
Money and Commissary Deposits
You can put money on an inmate's account three ways. You must know the CCN for any of them. The lobby kiosk takes cash and posts right away. The internet option uses Forecomm Solutions and takes cards. Mail takes money orders only, and never cash.
| Method | Rules |
|---|---|
| Lobby kiosk | Open 24 hours, cash only, posts at once. |
| Internet | Forecomm Solutions site, credit or debit, posts at once. |
| Money orders only, 1-3 business days after USPS receipt. |
The official JPSO commissary and money page is shown below.
Inmate Phone Calls and Staying in Touch
Phone service at the jail runs through Ally Telecom Group, the same provider behind video visits. Inmates get phone access once booking is complete, and the phones sit in the housing areas for private use. No one outside can call in to an inmate. The only inbound option is a voicemail message left for an approved inmate.
Calls bill by the minute with no connection fee. Three-way calls are blocked, and all calls may be monitored. To fund calls and messages, use the same kiosk, internet, or mail deposit methods that feed the commissary account. Messages cost $0.25 each, and picture or video messages cost $0.35 each.
This setup keeps families in touch while the person waits for a court date or serves a local sentence. Keep the inmate's CCN handy for every deposit and message.
Locating Someone Not on the Roster
The JPSO search only lists people held at the parish jail right now. If a search turns up nothing, the person may have been released, moved to state custody, or held by a federal agency. There are other tools for those cases.
VINELink offers free custody notifications and can confirm status across many systems. The Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections runs a statewide locator for people in state prison. The federal Bureau of Prisons has its own inmate locator. Each of these is covered, with links, on the Jefferson Parish released inmates page.
- Still in the parish jail? Use the JPSO roster, or call 504-368-5360.
- Moved to state prison? Use the state corrections locator.
- In federal custody? Use the Bureau of Prisons locator.
- Want alerts on a release? Register with VINELink.
Note: The roster has no release-date field, so use VINELink or call the jail when you need to confirm whether someone is still in custody.
JPSO Records and Report Fees
The Sheriff's records desk sells official reports beyond the free roster. These are paid records, handled by the Technical Services Bureau in Harvey on weekdays. The table lists the common fees.
| Record | Fee |
|---|---|
| Arrest register | $25.00 |
| Mugshot | $10.00 |
| Crash report | $7.50 |
| Background check | $50.00 |
| Letter of clearance | $50.00 |
See the Jefferson Parish public records page for how to file the request.
